Community

HEDLOC participates in a variety of projects that involve enhancing community welfare, partnerships with non-profit organisations or supporting international aid appeals. Special emphasis is placed on programs utilising the time and talents of HEDLOC employees as volunteers. HEDLOC encourages all employees to actively participate in the life of their communities and supports volunteering time, talents and resources. Overall, HEDLOC's objectives are to make a tangible, positive difference and to foster and support longer-term development within a global community.

Detailed below are some of the projects that we have recently participated in.

ABANA

ABANA Incorporated raise awareness and funding for self-sufficient set-ups in Rwanda and other remote locations, in the areas of education, health and agriculture, in order to improve the lives and futures of local children, as well as their families and greater communities. Recognising the plight of these remote villages to source even the most basic educational materials, HEDLOC has donated thousands of stationery items through the ABANA organisation in Sydney, in the hope that they will make a difference to the lives of children living in Africa.

Australian Orangutan Project

The Australian Orangutan Project (AOP) is a non-partisan organisation supporting the conservation and protection of the wild orangutan within their natural habitat. Teaming up with the AOP, HEDLOC has adopted 13 orphaned Bornean orangutans and continue to secure over 1,000 hectares of native rainforest, safeguarding this area from illegal logging.

International Grammar School

The International Grammar School (IGS) is a unique co-educational secular school, based in Ultimo Sydney. Offering quality teaching for preschool, primary and high school students, IGS provides sound learning with innovation and creativity in an environment that fosters individual academic performance whilst supporting intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of students. HEDLOC has helped IGS in the expansion of their inner-city campus by donating network equipment to facilitate the growth and progression of this dynamic school.

Taronga Zoo

The Zoo Parenting Program at Taronga and Western Plains Zoos contributes to international research and education programs of endangered species around the world, as well as assisting with the conservation, breeding and preservation of wildlife and their habitats. HEDLOC has contributed to raising funds for the program with the sponsorship of Taronga’s two orangutans, Willow and Jantan.
