Google Search Appliance 6.10 has recently been released, and there has been a series of long-awaited features that will interest new and current GSA customers.

Firstly, Google have improved the Dynamic Navigation function they released in 6.8, so that you can create different navigation facets for each frontend. After the update, you can create separate funnels and deliver a different “search-then-browse” functionality to suit every type of search user.

Google Search Appliance (GSA) customers are probably already familiar with the ecosystem of connectors that allow the GSA to seamlessly integrate with a variety of third party enterprise systems, including Microsoft SharePoint®, EMC Documentum® and IBM FileNet®. Google are pleased to announce the release of a new connector, developed by EMC using its VNX Event Enabler® platform, that will improve time-to-information with on-the-fly indexing for content stored on EMC VNX™ Unified Storage.

After skipping the 6.6 release, Google has announced GSA version 6.8 updates that are now available for the GB-1001, GB-7007, and GB-9009. Improving on features from 6.4, software release 6.8 has added Active-Active traffic distribution, Dynamic Navigation, and Sharepoint 2010 access out of the box. Google has also pushed to add business-based social media searches more relevant by adding features such as Cloud Connect and People Search.
